My cousin had asked me a few months back if she sent me some baby clothes of Olivia's (her daughter) if I could make a quilt out of them. Of course I have never done this, but I am always game for a new challenge. I did a little research and dove in! After cutting all the seams out of the clothes (which of course makes me very nervous seeing as I am cutting up someones precious memories, so don't screw it up!), I added interfacing to each piece. Turned out it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. It took me a few hours to get each piece ready to square up and cut. Then it was time to decide the layout. She had sent me a picture of one she liked that had all different size squares. That actually worked out great because each article of clothing came out to a different size and I wanted to utilize all I could.
I was able to use up almost every single piece she sent me! I only had a few little scraps leftover, which is always good. I was concerned about the stretchy quality of the clothing with quilting, but with the interfacing it didn't pose an issue at all. She liked the all over stipple quilting design so that's what I did. I think it gave it a great texture!

I hope Olivia and Alyssa both enjoy this quilt and now she has a great way to cherish her baby clothes! I loved this project so much I would definitely do it again. I feel more confident also when it comes working with the different materials.
I have now caught up on projects for everyone else as of today (that won't last long though, which is always OK with me) so I am going to pull out a UFO and see if I can make some headway on it. It's my string quilt that is using up more of my scrap stash! :)
