Low Volume Quilt

I am finally getting around to sharing pictures of this quilt. Two of the girls I sew with on an online group and I did a swap of "low volume" fabrics. We shopped for over a year before we finally swapped and I'm glad we shopped for that long because I was able to find so many different fabrics. I love the simple, classic look of this quilt. I chose to stick with a simple pattern and very simple quilting on it because it is fun to just look at each different square to see what you can find.

It took me a really long time to decide on a backing fabric for this too. I had a picture in my head of what I wanted it to be, but of course I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I ended up finding this while shopping online one day and I actually love the way it complimented the front.

Well that will probably be my last finish of 2014, but I think I had a very good year. I am getting quite the pile of quilts going in my closet and I think it may be time to start parting with some of them.

Christmas Quilting

Closeup to show the quilting on it

I have been doing a lot of Christmas quilting here lately, but haven't had time to share it all. The above picture is a snowman mini quilt that Lori Holt so lovingly shared on Instagram as a tutorial. This was just one of the many blocks that she shared. It was so fun to follow along with her tutorials and watch everyone make quilts. The main quilt was a scrappy Christmas quilt and the snowman was the label for it. Seeing as I am obsessed with all things snowmen, of course I had to make one! Now here are a bunch of pictures of both the snowman mini and the Christmas quilt.

The #haveyourselfaquiltylittlechristmas quilt :)

I tried to quilt holly leaves and berries into each wreath

I love the ric rac touch on the ornament

Look the stocking even has a hanging loop!

The happy little gingerbread man was one of my favorites

The backing fabric I chose with my snowman label on it
I also "taught" my first class. I showed my grandmas and my mom had to make a snowman mini I had designed awhile back. We all got together one afternoon and whipped them up. I think they had fun doing it and I had a lot of fun helping them. Of course I got to do my favorite part of all quilts the actual quilting on all of them! The day was so much fun they inspired me to start designing some more things for the upcoming year. The first thing is going to be a block of the month, calendar style. I am designing one 12" block themed by each month. Of course January is going to be a snowman!

Grandma Mardell, Grandma Nancy, and my Mom (Tami) showing off their finished wall hangings. I love how each snowman came out with its own personality!
That's all the Christmas quilting I have been doing this month and I can't believe Christmas is in 3 days. Time is just flying by!!
